ILLBILLY HITEC – NO BORDERS

iLLBiLLY HiTEC’s electronic tinkerings and styles have carved a swathe straight through the middle ground of the “sophisticated” modern reggae prevalent on the German scene, replete with hipster beards and Fred Perry caps. The band’s strange-sounding name sparks a vision of a “what the fuck” attitude, and it manifests itself in the mind with its formidable, sweet-sounding mellifluous sounds. The mix is an intoxicating loop with sound sketches borrowed from reggae into which pseudo-spheric elements from breakbeat, hip hop and pop have been absorbed to weave masterful club dub.

The “NO BORDERS” EP is iLLBiLLY HiTEC’s taster from theirforthcomimg album to be released in October 2016. Whats new about I.H.? First of all, the band has an expert alongside the mixing desk and on the production side. The well known and reputated JESSE “DUBMATIX” KING from Canada takes care on the production and looks after tweaking the knobs at the desk at the right time. On vocals we do have KINETICAL, PROMOE, EMWAN, HORSEMAN and to celebrate a fusion of reggae with electronic elements. They grab reggae by the root to conjure up a varied mix of roots, digital, hip hop and dub. Their lyricas in English, French and Patois is a melting pot of poetry, social aspects and problems we do have nowadays in our social life and a piece of gimmick and slapstick. As a bonus there are remixes by Dubmatix, Max Powa and Fleck.
